A total of eight ATMIA members and staff were in Washington, DC yesterday meeting with legislators to inform them of ATM industry concerns over the rising ATM crime rate, the need to protect consumer payment choice and other issues.

The morning was focused on the Senate and meetings in the offices of the “Mike’s” – Senators Mike Rounds, Mike Crapo, and Mike Lee. And ending the morning with Senator Ben Lujan. Afternoon meetings were on the House side with staff of Representatives Blaine Luetkemeyer, Barry Loudermilk, Deborah Ross, and Andy Biggs. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Crime & Federal Government Surveillance. ATMIA CEO Lonnie Talbert and Executive Director David Tente stayed today for additional meetings with ABA and NACS.

If you have not participated in a Fly-in with ATMIA or any other organization, it is a very interesting and educational experience. Meetings are set with legislative members and staff to discuss key issues of importance to the ATM industry. They appreciate hearing about those issues from those who are most impacted – our members. Particularly members who live or have business operations in their state/district.

ATMIA USA Executive Director, David Tente, will provide a full report on the Fly-in next week.
