ATM Security: Common Sense Can Save You

ATM theft can be a significant loss for businesses. While complex security systems are available, many basic precautions can significantly reduce the risk.

Placement Matters

  • Visibility: The ATM should be easily visible to staff at all times. This deters potential thieves.
  • Strategic Positioning: Placing a couple of rows of merchandise between the ATM and the entrance creates a natural barrier without obstructing the machine.

Physical Deterrents

  • Bollard Protection: Installing bollards in front of the entrance can act as a physical deterrent without breaking the bank. The added time and effort required for thieves often makes them seek easier targets.

Technology as a Safety Net

  • GPS Tracking: In the unfortunate event of theft, GPS tracking devices can significantly increase the chances of recovering the ATM and its contents.

By implementing these simple yet effective measures, businesses can significantly enhance ATM security and protect their investments.
